OCSC currently have an opportunity for a project engineer within our Highways, Transportation & Active Travel Engineering Team. This role is seen as an opportunity for a project engineer to join our team and continue their professional development across a wide variety of project types with considerable potential for future opportunities within OCSC. Projects range from civil infrastructure projects such as highways and cycle schemes to multidisciplinary engineering projects such as residential, commercial, healthcare and mixed use developments.

The role will primarily involve working with our Dublin based team but can facilitate a hybrid working system which does not require the candidate to be based in Dublin full time.

Key aspects of the role will include a combination of the following:

  • Undertake geometric and alignment design and modelling using a variety of software such as Civil 3D as Site 3D with integration to BIM.
  • Design in accordance with the relevant Irish standards including DMURS, the Cycle Design Manual, TII standards, the Traffic Signs Manual etc.
  • Project engineering and provision of engineering expertise involving a vast range of multi-disciplinary and civil engineering projects of varying scales and complexity within Ireland and the UK;
  • Work on a wide portfolio of projects in both public and private sectors.
  • Technical report writing.
  • Potential to get involved in contract and tender preparation and management including preparation of contract documents, works specifications, bills of quantities etc.
  • Develop new skills including project management, traffic engineering, modelling software etc.
  • Opportunity to develop your experience, be client facing and focused, participating in and leading design teams etc.

The above are a selection of the responsibilities which will be associated with the role but the successful candidate is not required to have extensive expertise in all areas.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the following criteria:

  • Must hold a degree in Civil Engineering or appropriate equivalent;
  • A minimum of 2+ years post graduate relevant experience in the areas of highways, transportation and/or active travel engineering;
  • Must actively working towards becoming a Chartered Engineer;
  • Shall be proficient and able to demonstrate road design or traffic engineering skills;
  • Have good communication skills and be proactive in dealing with team members and external parties;
  • Demonstrate a ‘can do’ attitude.
