We are delighted to announce that O’Connor Sutton Cronin has been shortlisted in two categories at the IBDA Awards 2026 for our work on the Permanent Rehabilitation of the WW1 Trenches at Cavan County Museum:

🏆 Heritage/Conservation Project of the Year

🏆 Leisure, Tourism & Hospitality Project of the Year

The winners will be revealed at the InterContinental Hotel, Dublin on Friday, March 13th, 2026, and we’re looking forward to attending on the night. A little about the project-following extensive restoration, the museum’s renowned outdoor replica WW1 trench, the largest of its kind in Ireland and the UK, officially reopened to visitors in August 2025. Originally opened in 2014, this remarkable exhibit provides an immersive experience with authentic sound and visual effects, built to historical specifications and honoring the legacy of the Royal Irish Fusiliers at the Battle of the Somme. With sections temporarily closed due to safety concerns, O’Connor Sutton Cronin was proud to be appointed by Cavan County Council to design and deliver a robust, long-term solution.

Our team assessed the existing structure, designed safe permanent public access, managed the procurement process, and oversaw successful construction-helping to safeguard an important piece of history for future generations. We are proud to see our work recognised and to have contributed to such a valued educational and heritage site. Congratulations to everyone involved, and best of luck to all finalists!
