O’Connor Sutton Cronin is delighted to share the ongoing progress of the Limerick to Foynes Railway Upgrade Project.This project involves the comprehensive renewal of the permanent way which includes;
· 42,670 metres of Continuous Welded Rails on Ballast Track
· 6 Major Structures
· 81 Minor Structures
· 50 uncontrolled Level Crossings
· 13 controlled CCTV Level Crossings
Work has begun reinstating the 42 km of the Limerick to Foynes Rail line, on behalf of our Client larnód Éireann (Irish Rail).
Track laying commenced at Aughinish with rail installation to be complete by the end of 2024. The line is expected to be operational by December 2025, with freight services starting in early 2026. Funded by the Irish Department of Transport and the National Transport Authority, this project reestablishes a vital rail link.
