Patrick Field

As Managing Director of O’Connor Sutton Cronin M&E Ltd. Patrick leads the M&E Division. A Fellow and Chartered Engineer, Patrick has extensive experience in Energy, Sustainability and Building Services solutions. Patrick’s passion for driving innovation ensures that all projects are delivered to the highest quality within our award-winning M&E and Energy and Sustainability Departments.
Patrick’s experience spans across multiple low energy and sustainable design projects in all sectors.
Patrick’s zest and ambition persists with his goal as MD to drive OCSC and our clients to a zero carbon future both within the company and across all projects being delivered by OCSC.

Andrew McDermott
Regional Director (Galway Office)

The Galway office opened in 2004. As Director of the Galway Office Andrew leads all projects in the region. Andrew completed his Degree in Structural Engineering from Bolton Street in 1989 and has worked in the UK and Ireland in Engineering Consultancy. He brings his 33 years of experience to all projects in the office offering cost effective, buildable practical solutions. Andrews design solutions have won awards including the ACEI Design Excellence Award in the past. Andrew has a wide client base including public and private sector clients as well as acting as expert witness.

Andy O’Brien

Andy started his long progression through his structural engineering career as a Junior Draughtsman in Rooney McLoughlin Associates (RMA) Consulting Engineers whilst pursuing a 4-year part time night Technician course in Civil Engineering at Bolton Street. This led to a 2-year part-time Technician Diploma in Civil Engineering whilst gaining valuable knowledge of R.C. and Structural Steel Detailing and Design during the day. As a technician, he carried out full designs of structures for the various regional and head office in RML. He was encouraged by the Directors and was accepted to a full-time degree in Structural Engineer at Bolton Street. Upon receipt of his degree, he then undertook a Diploma in Project Management at Trinity College and is now a Chartered Member of both the Institution of Engineers of Ireland and the Institution of Structural Engineers and a Fellow of the Consulting Engineers of Ireland. He first joined OCSC in 1991.
As a very hands on director, Andy has extensive experience with developer-led projects within the residential/mixed-use apartment and commercial sector. He has also been the lead structural consultant on various renovations and refurbishments of dilapidated buildings, mixed commercial and retail development, hotels and shopping centres. He has also successfully completed a number of large 1 and 2 storey Data Centre projects which are a particular favourite of his.

Anthony Horan

Anthony leads a team of Civil Engineers and allied professionals. Anthony seeks win-win solutions for Clients and his team focuses on adding value to projects through innovative solutions. Anthony’s philosophy is that a well-rounded Engineer, with a good grounding in construction and design, can always exceed a Client’s expectations with innovative thinking and attention to detail. Anthony leads Civil Engineering Infrastructural project teams and contributes to multidisciplinary teams for large building projects. As a Project Director Anthony has a track record of delivering infrastructure schemes on time, on budget, and to specification. He is a keen collaborator on multidisciplinary projects, especially in congested urban locations. Anthony has significant knowledge and experience in attaining planning through the various planning processes in Ireland. Anthony is available to advise on stakeholder interactions and public presentations, especially at key project stages. Anthony is very interested in the development of young Engineers and the promotion of Engineering as a profession. Brian O’Rourke is a Director of Civil Engineering with O’Connor Sutton Cronin. Brian with over thirty years’ experience in Engineering and Construction Management of which over 20 years have been in a senior management role. With qualifications in Civil Engineering, Project Management, Health & Safety, Law, and Arbitration. Brian has extensive experience Contract Administration and in managing and administering large scale civil engineering construction projects. In addition to his engineering background Brian is a Barrister at Law, an experienced Expert Witness and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators

Brian Heron is a Director with O’Connor Sutton Cronin with qualifications in Civil and Bridge Engineering, Health & Safety and Contract Law. Brian has extensive experience of managing multi-disciplinary design teams through all stages of a project’s life cycle on a wide range of civil engineering projects in both the public and private sector including new bridge design and bridge remediation, roads, active travel and public realm schemes. Brian has been responsible for the Project Management, Employer’s Representative, Design Management and Cost Control of projects ensuring successful compliance with client’s brief, budget and timetable.

David Fletcher

As Director of the Belfast Office since it opened in 2004; David leads the Belfast Office team of Civil and Structural Engineers and Technicians. David has worked on projects throughout the UK and Ireland as well as Hong Kong and Australia. This geographical variation and chartership with the Institution of Structural Engineers and Engineers Ireland, gives David the experience to provide technically innovative solutions to award winning projects. David also sits on the IStructE NI Regional Committee and is current chair of the Construction Professionals Council Northern Ireland.

As a director of the MEP practice, Declan is a Chartered Engineer with almost 20 years’ experience across a diverse range of sectors ranging from Commercial Office Shell & Core and High End Fit-out, Retail, Mixed Use, Residential, Healthcare, Institutional, and Industrial projects. Declan is known as a team player who is highly committed and brings technical expertise, great enthusiasm and a Can Do attitude to all projects. His key focus is to ensure OCSC deliver a high quality product and an excellent service for all our clients with a particular focus on fit for purpose design solutions that are cost effective.

Eddie Lyons

Eddie has over 25 years of experience in structural and civil engineering in Ireland on private and public developments. He has delivered on some of the most demanding and award-winning projects including commercial offices, university buildings, convention centres & theatres, distribution centres, schools, healthcare facilities, retail parks and road schemes. Many of his projects involved complex city centre locations with deep basements and nearby sensitive receptors of occupied buildings, utilities and roads. Eddie has presented course material to ACEI training programmes on basement design. He has been at the forefront of implementing sustainability initiatives in the office with respect to Embodied Carbon assessment and how we can contribute to Net Zero goals.

Eleanor Burke

Eleanor is a Chartered Scientist with over 20 years of professional experience in environmental consultancy. She has a wealth of experience ranging from environmental assessments to contaminated land to ecological services, having worked on a large variety of large-scale projects including residential, industrial, educational and infrastructure. Since joining OCSC in 2016, Eleanor has developed the Environmental Team and has progressed to her current position as Director (Environment). Eleanor leads a dedicated talented team of environmental engineers, geologists, scientists and ecologists in providing a wide range of specialist environmental services to our Clients.

As Financial Director for the O’Connor Sutton Cronin Group of companies, James leads the administration side of the business. James is a Chartered Director from the Institute of Directors in Ireland, a Chartered Management Accountant and has completed the Strategic Leadership for CFO’s course run by Stanford University in conjunction with Enterprise Ireland. James is an experienced professional with strong competencies in leadership, strategy, finance, and risk management and has served on the boards of OCSC entities as Director/Company Secretary since 2002

John McBeath

John McBeath is the director of the Cork Office and is a Chartered Structural/Civil Engineer with over 25 years postgraduate design and management experience. This experience has been gained working in many project sectors in Ireland, United Kingdom and Internationally. Project Sectors include Residential, Commercial, Retail, Educational, Health, Refurbishment, Communications, Pharmaceutical and Industrial projects. A large part of this experience has included working closely with many internationally renowned architects including Richard Rodgers, Norman Foster, Michael Hopkins, Avery Associates, STW, Grafton Architects and RKD Architects. OCSC (Cork) Ltd has been based in Cork for the last 15 years, dedicated to providing the best and most up-to-date advice to architects and clients. We are known for our attention to detail both in exploitation of alternative solutions to problems and for the importance we place on the elegance and efficiency of our design details. Engineering is a mixture of art and science. Concept must always come before calculation – and concepts are developed through collaboration with the whole design team. Our priorities are to the client, the team, the environment, and its people.

John Millar is a Director at O’Connor Sutton Cronin and leads our operations in London. Having joined O’Connor Sutton Cronin as a graduate in1998, he became a Chartered Engineer and then moved to England in 2004 to set up our London Office. His can-do approach and passion for delivering high quality designs has resulted in several awards and enabled O’Connor Sutton Cronin to grow from strength to strength in the UK. John’s team have delivered several large high-profile developments with values exceeding £500m. Projects vary from Refurbishments to New Builds in the Residential, Commercial, Retail, Hotel, Healthcare and Education Sectors.

Michael O’Reilly is a Structural/Civil Director with O’Connor Sutton Cronin, with a focus on Structural and Civil Engineering design excellence. Michael has a BSc (Eng) Degree in Structural Engineering, Bolton Street. He is a Chartered Engineer( CEng MIEI) and Fellow of the Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland. He has in 20+ years of consulting experience. Michael is the Honorary Secretary of the ACEI and sits on the ACEI Structures and Risk Committees. Michael has extensive experience in Ireland, UK , Middle East and North African markets. While he is focused on developer led large-scale mixed-use developments both in Ireland and the UK, his experience extends to Public works and design build contracts. Michaels’ goal is to ensure economic designs and advice beyond pure engineering which bring value to his projects and clients.

Paul Healy

Known for his “can-do” attitude, Paul Healy has over 35 years experience in Civil/Structural Engineering within the Built Environment and has been responsible for the successful delivery of a wide range of structural projects in Ireland and the UK. These include hospitals, university buildings, schools, swimming pools, industrial/distribution centers, residential, commercial, airport buildings and bridges. His expertise encompasses the whole construction process and demands of multi-disciplinary teams. Paul has been responsible for Project Leads & Independent Technical review of projects ensuring successful compliance with client’s brief, budget and timetable. Key to his success, Paul is passionate about Excellence & Quality, level of our service delivery and the Carbon+ Sustainability Agenda confronting Engineers. Richard Brennan is a chartered engineer with 25 years experience in the design of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems for commercial, residential, and industrial buildings.

Rob Shipman

Rob Shipman has over 20 years’ experience in the construction industry, from small, medium and large-scale projects, master planning, detail design coordination, high-end residential, and large-scale residential developments, whilst maintaining focus on client relationships and the day-to-day delivery of MEP projects. Rob focuses on the management and engineering delivery of the MEP project. He brings together a team of engineers and specialists to produce comprehensive and innovative design solutions to suit clients’ needs and budgets.
Rob is the key technical electrical lead for projects and takes ownership from the initial concept of design to completion and beyond, further demonstrating his commitment to the clients he works with. Rob also has a focus on people, equality and professional development of the OCSC team are key to growing the business as we move forward. Rob forges close relationships with clients, design team members, contractors, and implementation teams, to deliver quality design information as required to ensure the smooth progression of the project.

Sam Budin

Sam is a Chartered MEP Engineer who has a strong background leading building services teams in a coordinated manner and a proven track record of ensuring client satisfaction. With extensive experience specializing in the design of large-scale Plumbing, Wet Fire and Drainage Systems, including 19 years’ experience in both the plumbing trade and MEP design engineering.
Sam is an effective communicator, with a clear focus on collaboration with design teams. This ensures coordinated and practical building services solutions are agreed with the relevant parties from the outset of development through to handover. Sam has valuable experience building relationships, which in turn leads to new work and repeat business.
Sam has designed and lead Building Service design teams on a diverse range of projects, with extensive experience delivering coordinated, practical, cost effective and environmentally friendly MEP Design and advice to suit client’s needs across a range of Sectors. These include large scale residential, Healthcare, Education, Commercial, Industrial and Government Train Station Upgrades.

Shaun Doody

Shaun Doody is a highly skilled and accomplished engineer with extensive experience across the world in civil and structural engineering. He joined O’Connor Sutton Cronin (OCSC) in 2016 and has since proven himself as an invaluable member of the team. Shaun holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from UCD and a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering from Trinity College Dublin. He is a member of the Institution of Engineers of Ireland (MIEI), the Institution of Structural Engineers (MIStructE) and he is also a Registered Consulting Engineer (RConsEI).
In his 7 years at OCSC, Shaun has worked on a diverse range of projects, from commercial and residential buildings to large-scale infrastructure projects. He has built strong relationships with clients and colleagues alike, earning a reputation for his technical expertise, attention to detail, collaborative approach and can do attitude. He has been instrumental in delivering high-quality engineering solutions that have met the needs and expectations of OCSC’s clients. Shaun is passionate about sustainability and innovation, and he has championed the use of new technologies in engineering to improve project outcomes while providing the right solution.
As he takes on the role of Director at OCSC, Shaun is well-positioned to assist in driving the firm in providing cutting-edge multidisciplinary engineering services to its diverse portfolio of clients. Thomas Johnston

Thomas joined O’Connor Sutton Cronin & Associates in 1998 and has over 30 years’ experience as a qualified Civil and Structural Technician. As an Associate Director and Senior Project Engineer he has delivered many major construction projects which are inclusive of highway design, transport planning, traffic engineering for development, public realm schemes, commercial developments and office buildings throughout across Ireland and the UK.
Thomas was one of the founding Directors for the Belfast office back in 2004.
Thomas manages and oversees the Civil and Structural drafting departments for the whole of OCSC, this includes BIM, Reinforced Concrete Detailing and production of Revit Models and CAD drawings. He incorporates his expertise and experience on each project during various stages of scheme development, from planning, detailed surveys, traffic assessments and route selection from detailed design and tender design, through to construction and completion.
He is known for his can-do attitude and ability to problem solve complex issues with simple and effective solutions to ensure program delivery timescales are met. Thomas provides leadership on project management matters together with client care, business development, Health & Safety and Risk Assessment. He has a thorough working knowledge of various types of contracts and their processes and procedures and has a particular interest in project risk management and collaborative working with project stakeholders to ensure risks are eliminated and mitigated throughout the lifecycle of projects.
Thomas is responsible for ensuring that all O’Connor Sutton Cronin (UK and Northern Ireland) Quality Assurance and BIM standards are being implemented. He recently became a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation.

William Forsyth

William, A Chartered Engineer, has over 20 years’ experience in Mechanical Design and Building Services for a wide range of projects including commercial, healthcare, residential and detention facilities. William has qualifications in Building Services, Project Management, Fire Safety Engineering and Acoustics. William has been involved in many special areas of Building Services provision including sustainable design and the use of dynamic modelling to achieve accreditation for recognised certification including BREEAM, LEED and the Code for Sustainable Homes.
William is and experienced, capable, enthusiastic and proactive Engineer and his professional style is direct, constructive, organised, open minded and good humoured. He enjoys a natural capacity to take the initiative whilst remaining sensitive to Client’s needs and has an appetite for and dedication to work of a technical nature.

Keith Knox

Keith Knox is an experienced professional with over 10 years of experience in the construction industry and 5+ years in the IT industry. He brings a wealth of knowledge and skills to his role as CTO at OCSC. Keith’s areas of expertise include efficiencies, AI, APIs, automation, bespoke software creation, BIM, and internal processes. He has worked on projects in various sectors and disciplines, which has enabled him to gain a broad understanding of different business needs and challenges. Keith communicates effectively with clients, team leads, and directors to ensure that projects are delivered successfully and that the end-users receive the best possible solution. With Keith’s experience and expertise, OCSC can continue to provide innovative and efficient services to its clients.

Brian Farrington

Brian has over 15 years experience in the construction industry having spent a number of years as an electrician prior to becoming an electrical engineer. He is a chartered engineer with the Institute of Engineering Technology (IET) and has previously spent 10 years in the UK designing large scale and residential, retail and commercial projects valued at over £800m across these sectors. Now based in the Dublin office, Brian is one of our team leads contributing to the successful delivery of projects working closely with design teams and our clients.
Colin Wilson

Colin Wilson is an Associate Director with O’Connor Sutton Cronin & Associates with qualifications in Civil Engineering and Road Safety Auditing and Engineering. Colin has over 15 years’ experience working for both Contracting and Consulting companies within the industry and regularly fulfils the roles of Project Manager, Employer’s Representative, Commercial Manager, Resident Engineer and Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP). Colin has delivered projects for both public and private sectors including Public Realm, Active Travel and Road Upgrade and Realignment Schemes. Colin is an expert in the administration of the Public Works Contract, Commercial Management and Dispute Resolution.

Ian is a Chartered Engineer and has been with O’Connor Sutton Cronin since 2005, working his way from Graduate Engineer right up to his current role as Associate Director. Ian has gained considerable experience across a variety of sectors and has led teams on large scale, award winning commercial, healthcare, residential, industrial and conservation projects. These projects have been successfully delivered using a range of procurement routes from traditional client designed through to design & build. On all projects, Ian engages as a pro-active member of the design team and strives to deliver projects of high quality to the satisfaction of the client.

Niall McMenamin

Niall McMenamin is a Chartered Civil Engineer and an Associate Director with O’Connor Sutton Cronin. He has a master’s degree in civil engineering and over 25 years’ experience in civil engineering design and project delivery, having delivered projects in Ireland, the UK, Poland, Libya and the UAE taking account of local technical standards and client requirements. Niall has extensive experience in leading large scale civil engineering infrastructure projects, with a strong background in hydrology, hydraulics, road infrastructure and active travel schemes.

Patrick Raggett

Patrick is a Chartered Engineer with over 15 years of experience in all areas of civil engineering, working with O’Connor Sutton Cronin for the full duration of this time. Coming from a family background in the construction sector, Patrick has been involved in the successful planning, design and construction of a wide range of projects in Ireland and the UK, acting as project lead and overseeing the successful delivery of consultant engineering services from concept stage through planning, detailed design, tender, construction and on to handover. Patrick’s experience covers a wide range of project types and scales including commercial, residential, healthcare leisure, etc. as well as major infrastructural schemes such as the Royal Canal Greenway Phase 3. He is an innovative thinker and an inspirational engineer who has developed great working relationships with industry leaders as well as key stakeholders including local and national authorities. Patrick is committed to working as part of an overall design team while also taking into account the specific needs and requirements of each project to deliver the most appropriate and accurate results.
Patrick has fulfilled a variety of roles on different projects utilising his skills in project engineering and project management, strengthened by his experience and formal qualifications including a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management. Patrick also has particular expertise in all areas of transport engineering, overseeing the successful delivery of specialist services relating to traffic & transportation, mobility management, transport planning, etc.
In addition, Patrick has a keen interest in Health and safety, having formal qualifications in this area which include a Postgraduate Diploma in Health & Safety in Construction and PSDP which he brings to the benefit of every project while also acting as Health and safety Officer for O’Connor Sutton Cronin.

Paul Cassidy

Paul has over 14 years of experience working across global, large-scale, cutting edge projects, ranging from Corporate Fit Out to 3rd Level Educational Sectors, Residential, Food/Retail, Pharmaceutical, and Industrial. Paul commenced his career with OCSC in 2008 as a Project Engineer, and through the leadership and guidance of the Management Team, Paul has been promoted rapidly to his current role as Associate Director, leading a team of highly committed, talented and driven Mechanical & Electrical Engineers. Paul’s key goal is to inspire OCSC’s team of skilled engineers to deliver world-class projects for our valued clients. Paul has a great depth of experience and brings his expertise in operations management, strategic planning, leadership, and negotiation skills to every project he is involved in. Paul is a Chartered Engineer who has gained considerable experience over his 20+ years with O’Connor Sutton Cronin on many varied projects with differing site constraints and construction techniques. These projects included public buildings, healthcare and schools as well as industrial, commercial and residential developments. Paul has a wealth of experience in delivering specific client requirements as part of a client’s design team, client technical advisor or part of a design and build team. Paul’s focus ensures that high quality, efficient and economical designs are produced and delivered for our clients.

Seamus Doyle

Seamus has over 12 years experience in structural and civil engineering in both Ireland and the UK. Seamus has a wide range of experience on both public and private projects which include residential, commercial, educational, leisure and large mixed-use developments. Seamus has a hands on role on his projects and is involved from the outset, including tendering for projects right though to delivery on site. He is passionate about providing efficient designs and workflows and uses his wide range of experience and expertise to ensure each client is furnished with atailored service to suit the needs of their project. Recently completed buildings include €85m The Exo Building beside the 3Arena, £200m Deanston Wharf providing 800 residential units beside London City Airport, €150m Sandyford Central Residential development providing 564 units and €12m Roe & Co. Whiskey Distillery located in the historic Guinness Powerhouse.

Having joined O’Connor Sutton Cronin as a graduate in 2009, he moved to the London Office in 2010, obtaining qualifications in OCDEA (SAP) and BREEAM, and became a Chartered Engineer in 2021. Kevin has developed extensive knowledge in Mechanical, Public Health, and Sustainability Design in the UK and Ireland with projects varying from New Builds and Refurbishments in Residential, Commercial, Retail, and Hotel Sectors.
