O’Connor Sutton Cronin has been appointed to provide Civil, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering services for the refurbishment of Foynes Train Station, forming part of the wider development of the Foynes freight hub. The project will modernise the existing station, enhance its functionality and accessibility, and support the growing operational requirements of rail freight in the region.
OCSC’s multidisciplinary role includes assessing the existing station infrastructure and developing coordinated engineering interventions. The works will incorporate structural improvements, upgraded mechanical and electrical systems, enhanced station facilities, improved platform access and accessibility measures, creating a safer and more efficient environment for all users.
Our Civil, Structural and M&E teams will coordinate closely with the wider design team, local authorities and key stakeholders to ensure the refurbishment integrates effectively with the freight-hub development and aligns with regional transport objectives.
Sustainability, buildability and long-term performance will remain central to the design approach. The completed scheme will contribute to the modernisation of transport infrastructure in Foynes while supporting future economic growth and improved rail connectivity.
