O’Connor Sutton Cronin was appointed as Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) and Resident Engineer for the DART Battery Electric Multiple Unit (BEMU) Depot Modifications at Drogheda. The scheme involved upgrading the existing rail depot through a coordinated programme of civil, structural, mechanical and electrical works to support the future operation and maintenance of the BEMU fleet.

During the design phase, OCSC led regular health and safety coordination meetings, ensuring effective collaboration across the multidisciplinary design team and the consistent application of the Principles of Prevention. Our PSDP team coordinated design risk assessments and prepared the Preliminary Safety and Health Plan before the project progressed to tender.

Throughout construction, OCSC worked closely with the Project Supervisor Construction Stage and design team to coordinate design changes, manage residual risks and compile the project Safety File. As Resident Engineer, OCSC also supervised and inspected the works, reviewed risk assessments and method statements, and coordinated responses to contractor submissions and technical queries.

The commission demonstrates OCSC’s capability to combine PSDP, multidisciplinary design coordination and site supervision services on complex rail infrastructure projects, supporting safe and effective delivery from design through to completion and handover.
