The TII Motorway Bridges package formed part of the wider reinstatement of the Limerick-Foynes railway corridor, restoring a strategic rail connection between Limerick and Shannon Foynes Port.

The works focused on the complex interface between the reinstated railway and national road infrastructure. Careful engineering coordination was required to address bridge capacity, railway clearances, construction sequencing, inspection access and the safe integration of rail works within the wider motorway network.

Civil and structural engineering services included technical assessments of existing and proposed bridge structures, development of practical strengthening and renewal solutions, and detailed coordination between rail and road design requirements. The works helped manage the technical risks associated with reinstating a railway beneath and alongside major road structures.

The wider commission also encompassed associated railway infrastructure, including embankments, cuttings, drainage, overbridges, underbridges, culverts, formation works and boundary treatments. Close liaison with Iarnród Éireann, Transport Infrastructure Ireland and Shannon Foynes Port Company ensured that the bridge package aligned with operational railway requirements and national road standards.
